St Jude's Church of England Primary School

Turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding -  Proverbs 2:2

Welcome

“The power of education extends beyond the development of skills we need for economic success. It can contribute to nation-building and reconciliation.” Nelson Mandela

An education is the greatest gift we can give our children, for it can transform lives, communities, nations and ultimately the world. At St Jude's we believe there is no greater power than education, no responsibility more important and no privilege more rewarding than working with young people. There can be few joys more heartfelt for those involved in education than to see former pupils thrive and flourish as they make their way in the world. We want to equip them with the academic, social and emotional skills for them to flourish.

We make a commitment to our students and families to work with them to create the citizens of tomorrow. If children are to be successful and fulfil their God-given potential, strong partnerships between home and school are vital. We value our parents and wider community and work hard to involve them. Christian ethos is important to us.

We pride ourselves on knowing each individual child and our curriculum is tailored to meet their needs, because primary education is about so much more than Maths and English. With this in mind we aim to deliver experiences that promote the development of the whole child, experiences that build character, develop resilience and a strong sense of self. We want our children to develop the skills and qualities needed to break down the barriers that hold them back. Success must not just be defined by SATS' results, GSCE and  A level grades or class of university degree, but by type of adult these qualifications have helped create.

At St Jude's, we demand high standards and we have a culture of 'no excuses'. This is reflected in the behaviour of our children and quality of their learning. The school has a rich and successful history which we are proud of, however, we also recognise the need to focus on the future. Innovation and creative thinking are at the heart of everything we do. The children passing through our classrooms may be doing jobs in 10 years time that do not even exist today: we must give them a mindset to continually learn, long after they have left formal education.

We want our children to leave St Jude's not only with the capacity to be the leaders of tomorrow but as kind, compassionate young people ready to take on the challenges of an ever-changing world .

We warmly welcome visitors to our school and look forward to sharing all the school has to offer.
